Green Bean Casserole

  1. Prepare Baked “Fried” Onions using 1 large onion, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, panko breadcrumbs, 1 large egg and 1 tbsp milk.
  2. Preheat oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place flour into a small bowl. Combine breadcrumbs, salt and pepper into a small bowl. Whisk egg and milk into a small bowl.
  4. Slice the onion. Individually, dip each onion slice into the flour bowl, then into the egg and milk bowl, then into the breadcrumb bowl.
  5. Place breaded onions onto baking sheet, bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Set aside fried onions and reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Combine condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk and (blanched) green beans into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Mix together well.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.
  9. Remove from oven, stir the mixture, and add in the fried onions.
