At Grimmway Farms, the safety of our products, our family of employees, and the communities we serve remain top priorities. As of December 18^th, we are happy to see that the FDA has declared the outbreak to be over and its investigation complete.

From the beginning of the November 2024 recall and subsequent investigation, we have worked closely with health authorities, fully supporting their efforts to ensure transparency and safety. It is in that spirit that we want to share the recent investigation results. Notably, none of the 274 samples collected by the FDA at our facilities tested positive for E.coli 0121:H19, the strain linked to the outbreak.

Two FDA samples tested positive for different strains of E.coli. Those samples were collected from outside of our facilities – one from the bottom of a cattle feed trailer that never touched product shipped to consumers, and the second from an unrelated water storage pond. Water from that storage pond is treated before it is used.   No illnesses from this outbreak are associated with the two positive samples. Finally, none of the FDA samples collected from inside our processing facilities tested positive for E.coli.

E.coli occurs naturally in the environment in which we all live, which is why Grimmway Farms follows strict food safety policies and protocols in our facilities, on our farms, and operates in a culture of continuous improvement.

Here at Grimmway Farms, we believe that food safety is not a single endpoint but a daily commitment. We view every opportunity to reinforce our food safety systems as a responsibility we take seriously. We will continue to uphold our rigorous standards to ensure the trust placed in us is well-earned.

On November 16^th, Grimmway Farms issued a voluntary recall of select organic whole and organic baby carrots. The full list of affected products is provided below and are not currently available for purchase in retail stores.
